The Department of Journalism started functioning from the year 2004. The study of journalism is a saga of adventure, patriotism, sacrifice and dedication to a noble profession. It is an exciting tale of the Pen fighting along with the Sword of happenings around the society. Advertising, Public Relations, Print, Television, Radio, Films, New Media & online Journalism makes the subject challenging and creative.
The main objective of the Department –‘Imparting Education with Pragmatic and Practical approach’. Department conducts various academic activities such as PPT presentations, research oriented case studies, conducting interviews, Guest Lectures, screening of documentary films, preparing advertisement copy, editing techniques, press visit, media fest and internships enables students to learn theory subject with practical insight. Department brings out Lab Journal ‘PRISM’ to hone the writing skills of budding Journalists and also to learn the nuances of print media. To provide enriching inputs practical oriented projects and assignments are given to the students.
The Department has tied up with ‘Deccan Herald- in Education’ (DHIE) program to inculcate newspaper reading habit and to enhance knowledge. As part of the program soft skill training workshops are conducted and certificates are provided by Deccan Herald.
Our students are well placed in various media organizations. Though the Department is twelve year old, the various activities conducted the student’s results are noteworthy.
