Virtual Student Orientation

The Virtual Student Orientation Programme for the batch of 2020-2021 was organized on 07 th September, 2020 at 10.15am on YouTube and Zoom online platforms.

The Programme began with greetings and a formal welcome to the new batch of students by Asst. Prof. Sanjana Girish, Department of Management Studies.

The opening prayer was rendered by Asst. Prof. Suvina Benjamin, Department of English and the Bible Reading was done by Asst. Prof. Renie Anthony, Department of Psychology. Asst. Prof. Porkodi, Department of Commerce gave a brief introduction about the College.

The Principal, Prof. Esther Prasanakumar in her address extended a warm welcome to the students on behalf of the Chairman, Board of Management and spoke about the steady growth of the college over the years, student laurels in academics, sports, curricular and co-curricular activities and the focus on imparting holistic development to students. She advised the new batch to engage themselves in as many learning exercises as possible and wished them success in their academic journey at Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College.

The various clubs and committees functioning in the college were introduced by Prof. Joyce Metilda Irudayam, Head, Department of Economics. This was followed by a video presentation on the highlights of the college which included the College Ranking, Faculty Members, Inter-Collegiate Student Achievements, Placement Cell, College Programme, Academic Events and Activities, Laboratories, Conferences and Seminars, Webinars, Workshops, Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits, Short Term Certificate Courses, Clubs And Committees, Counseling, Anti Ragging, NCC Unit, NSS Unit, Rotaract club, Cultural Events, Sports and Recreation, Annual Athletic Meet, Entrepreneurship Cell, Eco Watch Club, Choir, Co-Curricular Activities, Alumni Association, Class Assembly, Social Outreach Programme, Awareness Programme, Best Practices and also the Eco Friendly Campus. The rules and regulations were briefed by Asst. Prof. Rachel Joshua, Department of Commerce. This was followed by a Virtual Campus Tour video which included the College Building, Library, Departments, Laboratories, Seminar Hall, Chapel, Post-Graduate and Management Studies block among other areas of the college premises.

The college song was presented by the college choir after which the Student Orientation Programme concluded.
