Rotaract Report 2018-2019
The college is proud to have the Rotaract Club for our students to be a part of the humanitarian services, practice high ethical standards from the student life itself and help build goodwill and peace in the society. Our students take part in various programmes organised by the Rotary Club thus doing their little service to the society.
The Rotaract Club was started in September 2010 in association with Rotary Club, Banashankari. The goals of the Club are
(1) To develop professional and leadership skills
(2) To promote opportunities for personal and group activities with a view of serving the community, and promoting international understanding and goodwill towards people.
The Club conducts several vocational workshops and organizes outreach programs. The Club’s greatest distinctions are its collaborations with the Rotaract Club of Kathmandu, Nepal and joint projects conducted together.

Report 2014-15
The office bearers were formally installed by the president and secretary, SN Gowda on 26th july 2014. The main emphasis of our Rotaract programme was on safety of women. Hence we collaborated with HOLLA BACK , an international organization,which promotes women safety.On the first Sunday of August, Our Rotaracters volunteered for the walkathon conducted by CSWB. Basic self defence programme was conducted by Rtr.Rajina Shrestha to empower the students of our college.This was followed by conducting a programme for the students of NMKRV College Bangalore on 9th october 2014. In the month of October we conducted a resume Writing Workshop for our rotaract members.
On 8th January,The IDYE team, rotaract district 3292 Nepal has visited our campus. In the last week of Feburary, our Rotaracters took active part in THE SWACHA BHARAT ABHIYANA programme by rotary Banashankari 3190 at Kuvempu park. An Outreach programme was conducted in Arpana school for special children on 10th Feburary 2015. Children were taught creative activities and snacks were distributed . The programme turned out to be a very sensitizing and touching experience. Few of our rotaracters took part in the polio drive, organized by our parent club, Rotary Banashankari. Few Rotaracters were volunteers for NERALUU, an NGO
Report 2015-16
The Rotaract year started with the club based project – Dream Catcher in the July 2015 and Interview skills in the month August 2015.
The office bearers of the club attended the district leader ship training workshop conducted by the Rotaract District on the second Sunday of August 2015.
The installation of the office bearers of our club was conducted in the college seminar hall. The guest of honour was the president RTR S.N.Gowda of Rotary Parent Club Banashankari.
Our Principal Prof.Esther Prasanakumar presided over the function. The club conducted a newspaper drive and set up food stalls to generate funds for the club.
With the funds generated an outreach program was organized for the Arpana School for specially abled. A team from Bombay visited our college for international district youth exchange programme.On Teachers day few of the office bearers with RC Koramangala and Banashankari spent few hours at Samarthanam School for disabled.
RYLA training workshop was conducted for 70 Students from our college and PES engineering college by the parent Rotary club.
In the month of December our college conducted a joint project with the RC Club of Colombo for autistic children .Our students were part of the polio campaign in Jan-Feb 2016.Six of our Members represented the college at Rotasia held in Colombo. It was a prestigious moment for our club.
The students of our club who had attended RYLA training conducted a Personality Development Workshop at Apollo School and Govt.School yediyur Bangalore. The students also attended the ROTA Conference –Utthan on 12th and 13th March.
Report 2016-17
The installation of the office bearers for the year 2016-17 was held on 27th August 2016.The Chief Guest was RTN Dr.Srinivas .Padmashri Awardee President Rotary Club of Banashankari.
On 19th August there was a workshop on SUSTAINABLE MENSTRUATION BY eco experts Mrs. Malini and ms.sharmada. There WAS A TREK TO MADHUGIRI BETTA on 23rd September 2016.30 rotaractors took part .
A talk on’ WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A ROTARACTOR ‘ was given by RTN .SHASIDHAR on 6th Jan 2017 for the club members.
The Rotaract club office bearers RTR Sriveda and RTR Akshita presented VISAKHA –DIGITAL INDIA a HRD ministry initative to the III BA,BSC and BCA streams on 13th January 2017. This iniative was taken forward and a community based teaching was conducted for the YWCA diploma students at the Koramangala unit on 30th January 2017.
A poster making competiton was organized on 25th Jan 2017 on the topic –Save Electricity
A talk on BODY IMAGE AND PERSONALITY was organized 10th February 2017. The resource person was Ms.Sharmadha.
Two fund raisers by Prachi and group and Farnaz and group.Those projects raised adequate funds for the club.
A chocolate chip cookie making demonstration was organized by RTR.Vindiya on 10th March 2017.
A visit to Jerome home for the aged was organized by the club members .it was a fruitful interaction .With the funds raised small gifts and snacks were distributed to the inmates.
Report 2017-18
The installation of the office bearers for the year 2017-18 was held on 12th August 2017.The Chief Guest was Rtn. Divakar Marathe President of Banashankari Rotary, Rtn. Raghunandan, Rtn. Prasanna Hegde, Rtn. S. N. Gowda, Rtn. Hemachandra and DRR Rtr. Naveen.P.
HIP-HOP Workshop:
On 15th August Hip-Hop workshop was organized and the instructor was Naveen who has its own Dance Academy-Aarav’s Academy. It was a fund raiser event. All the Rotaractors had a lot a great time by learning Hip-Hop. This event raised adequate funds for the club.
Distribution of Books and Stationeries
On August 14th 2017, Government School of Lakkenahalli, Tumkur. The program began with welcome address by principal of school & Rtn. Divakar Marathe & Rtr. Sriveda addressed the gathering followed by distribution of 500 books & geometry box to 150 students. The students were extremely happy to receive new books.
Independence Day-Inauguration of Free Health Check-up Camp
The main aim of the camp is that on every second Saturday of each month we will be having a Free Health Check-up Camp for people who cannot afford health check-up. The inauguration started with lighting of the lamp by Rtn. Divakar Marathe, Rtn. S. N. Gowda, Rtn. Hemachandra, Rtn. Raman sir to mark the beginning of great cause followed by Health Check-up which included the check of the BP level, Diabetes, blood check-up etc for more than 50 people. This cause can be a great start for people to get health checked for free of cost second Saturday of every month. This inauguration ended with high hopes of providing Health Check-up for people who can't afford.
Ashvattha-DLTW-27th August 2017, PES.
All the office bearers attended Ashvattha-DLTW. Taking up the post is not a great thing but getting educated by the best of best guides about responsibility of each post is the great thing. DLTW team gave us great opportunity to not only learn about our responsibilities but also, how to best execute them.
Housie Activity-September 1st 2017 Refreshing Ancient Games.
All the Rotaractors were very enthusiastic and enjoyed the game. Rtr. Akansha won the maximum number of prizes.
Teacher's DayCelebration-5th Sept 2017.
Celebration started by collaring president followed by cake cutting. Teachers spoke few words to the Rotaractors regarding their experience in Rotaract Club. Special dance performance by Rtr.Bhumika to make celebrations even more lively.
RotaTech(Science Exhibition &Competition)- 9th September 2017, Kairalee Nilayam School.
HAL Technical society along with Rotary and Rotaract Bangalore West organized RotoTech 2017 which is a Science Exhibition and Competition. Our club volunteered in RotaTech.
Campus Cleaning 17th Sept 2017.
Keeping place clean around us is everyone’s responsibility. Our club took an initiative to clean the campus. Our main focus was to remove plastic covers and wastes around the plants which affect growth the plants. This even made us realize how difficult it is to clean the campus. We had more respect towards the cleaning stuff in our college after this activity. At the end, seeing the campus so clean we were filled with satisfaction.
Dandiya Dhammal (Dance for a Cause)- 23rd Sept 2017, Government Girls High School.
Dancing is always fun but dancing for a cause is even more fun. We were supporting club for Dandiya Dhammal which was organized by Bangalore Rotaract West.
MegaTrek- 23rd Sept 2017, Madhugiri Betta.
A total of 1853 Rotaractors had trekked on Asia’s second largest monolith- Madhugiri making a Guinness world record and our club name is mentioned in Indian Book of Records too.
Envelope Decoration was organized on Sept 29th 2017. Rotaractors decorated envelopes creatively and same was sold to raise funds.
CANDLE MAKING WORKSHOP-6th October 2017. Main motive was to teach Rotaractors how to make candles. This workshop was fun filled &
creative section where all Rotaractors were completely involved in making diyas.
Book Drive- 7th Oct 2017
Bhumi is one of India's largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organisation. Bhumi capitalises on the volunteering force of Indian youth
& helps poor children to realise their potential & works towards building libraries in government schools.
Our club volunteered to give books to Bhumi Organization by collecting novels, fictions, dictionaries,
used & old books from Rotaractors by organizing Book Drive in college. At the end of Book Drive, we collected more than 100 books & handed to
Bhumi Organization volunteer.
VISIT TO KARUNASHRAYA- 20th Oct 2017
Karunashraya provides free professional palliative care for advanced stage cancer patients who are beyond cure.
It was our wish to celebrate Diwali with these special people. As soon we went, we had a very fun & interactive time with them.
Then we played housie game with them. Gave flower bouquets & sweets to 3 winners of the game. Followed by dance & song performance.
At the end we distributed diyas, non-polluting crackers & sweets.We had best Diwali ever by celebrating in Karunashraya and interacting
with people there.
Drawing Competition on 15th Sept 2017
On occasion of Children's Day, we organized Drawing Competition for students of 1st - 5th classes in YWCA. Topics were Nature & Festivals.
Children were enthusiastic & enjoyed a lot while drawing. We Rtrs relived our childhood school days & had a
great time interacting with kids. All the drawings where artful & it was difficult for us to select the best ones.
At last we distributed trophies to the winners & chocolates to all the kids.
ANNADATA - 9th January 2018
Annadata focuses towards distributing hot, nutritious & homemade food to poor, needy and hungry 50 people. Our belief is that food should be served in an equitable and friendly manner. We distributed food at K.R.Market for homeless people. We were satisfied and happy by seeing happiness in their eyes. They not only ate food but in turn blessed us. Receiving blessings from them was the best thing about this project. Our club has decided to conduct Annadata every month to spread happiness.
Child Abuse Awareness Program(PANTS) 17 th – 20th January 2018
With the increasing incidents of sexual abuse and fatal incidents with children, teaching children the difference between the good touch and bad touch is extremely important. Children below age 10 lack the knowledge about good and bad touch.
Considering this our club & RaC Bangalore SouthWest started PANTS.
We start the program with icebreaker session followed by a video clip which conveys the meaning of PANTS then a scenario session and at the end we speak with kids individually by asking few personal questions to know if the kid is undergoing any kind of abuse. If we come across any kid going through sexual abuse we inform HM about the kid and we provide counselling to the kid.
So far, we have covered 10 schools and 200 children, among which 5 children have faced child abuse in their past.
ICYE
Letter head exchange with Rotaract Club Chandigarh Midtown (RID 3080). On 15th February we hosted 2 Rtrs. Rtr.Harsh Godara (President of Rotaract Club of Chandigarh) and Kevin Singh (Sergeant at Arms of Rotaract Club of Chandigarh).
RotaFest
Middle School in the following events: Sangam-RotaFest organized by Rotaract District council in association with RaClubs of Bangalore B.I.T. and Presidency College.
Day 1: 9 Children had participated from United Mission
Solo Dance- 2 participation, Group Dance, Solo Singing, Drawing
We won two places in Solo Dance:
2nd Place by Johnson and 3rd Place by Sandeep
Day 2: Our Club Participated in Fashion Show, Street Play, Solo Dance (2 Participants) and Photography.
Awareness among the Rotaractors about Basic Life Hacks:
On 2nd March 2017, Rtr. Saniya created awareness among the Rotaractors about basic life hacks which are very important to save a person’s life in the absence of a doctor.
Demonstration on DECOUPAGE:
On 15th March 2018 Mrs. Saadia Hameed, Faculty, Dept. of Commerce conducted demonstration on Decoupage for Rotaractors. It was very fun filled session where Rotaractors got to learn new art form.
RotaMela:
RotaMela was organized on 21st March 2018. Totally 5 tuck shops were put by Rotaractors and they scold food items. Through this event adequate funds were raised for a cause. At the end of the event Rotaractors had a great experience.
Zumba Session:
The much-awaited Zumba session was organized by our club on 31st March during the International ROTACAMP-PRAYAAG organized by Rotaract District Council 3190.This session was organized to have fun filling physical activity for all the Rotaractors
