"Nature Is The Best Medicine" - The Department of Botany of Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College maintains the Medicinal Garden on the campus. This was initiated with an aim to create awareness about the medicinal benefits of plants and to promote the practice of home gardening among students. The garden has a number of commonly available medicinally important plants like - Aloe vera, Coleus, Vitex, Asparagus, Pepper, Vinca, Tinospora, Lemon grass and a lot more.
The plants are identified and a little information about the common name, botanical name and uses are mentioned on the placards next to each plant. At the beginning of each academic year the students are assigned one plant each to take care and internal marks alloted based on their care towards the growth of the plant.
This year on the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8th the YWCA Unit came forward to donate a few saplings to celebrate women's Day with a message "I am Generation Equality'' - Realizing Women's strength. The students enthusiastically participate and are also richly benefitted.
