Report 2014-15
The Legal Literacy Programme for the year 2014- 2015 was organised for II BCOM students. The main focus of the programme was ‘Women and Law’. The resource persons for the programme were the faculty from our sister Institution Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College.
This legal awareness programme comprises of Six sessions. The first session was about the rights of women under Hindu Personal Law.It included marriage and divorce laws that are followed in different religious and special Marriage Act.The second Session dealt with Crimal law. It is covered the various crimes against women and legal protection, The third session was on labour Legislation and Women’s righta at the workplace. It included the directive principles of state policy,provisions of various legislations relating to women workers, sexual harrasment at the workplace and legal remedies.The fourth session was on the topic Domestic Violence.The fifth session was on criminal courts,their jurisdiction ,the filling of an FIR and Charge sheet.The sixth session dealt with Cyber crimes,Information Technology Act,2000 and safety measures that can be followed by the individuals in society to prevent crimes.
All the sessions were interactive. The programme made the students aware of women’s rights, their duties,various legal procedure and legal remedies . It was interesting and informative to the students.

The Legal Literacy Programme for the year 2015- 2016 was organised for II BCOM students. The main focus of the programme was ‘Women and Law’. The resource persons for the programme were the faculty from different law colleges and professional lawyers.
This legal awareness programme comprises of five sessions. The first session was about the Cyber crimes and protection for women according to Information technology act.
The second session dealt with Succession and Inheritance according to Hindu and Mohammadan Law. This was followed by the third session which dealt with Domestic violence and remedies available for women in India.
The fourth session was on the topic Labour Legislation and women’s rights at the work place. It included the Directive Principles of State policy, provisions of various legislations relating to women workers, sexual harassment at the work place and the legal remedies.
The fifth session was on Criminal prosecution and Procedural law. It included hierarchy of criminal courts, their jurisdiction, the filing of an FIR and Charge sheet

The Legal Literacy Programme for the year 2017- 2018 was organised for II BCOM students. The main focus of the programme was ‘Women and Law’. The resource persons for the programme were the faculty from our sister institution Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College.
This legal awareness programme comprised of four sessions. The first session was about the rights of women under Hindu personal law. It included marriage and divorce laws that are followed in different religions and brief discussion about Special Marriage Act.
The second session was organized to provide awareness to the students regarding the legal aspects of domestic violence. The programme was designed to provide insight and to understand the key concepts, review and to discuss the phenomenon of Domestic violence.
The third session was about the Cyber crimes and protection for women according to Information Technology Act, 2000. The session also had a discussion about the World Women’s Day.
The fourth session was organised to throw light on various legal aspects pertaining to Article 14 (Equality of gender), Article 21(Right to life), Section 299 (Culpable homicide). Further videos relating to offences and penalties under the law for activities such as Foeticide, Abortions and Infanticide were played during the session about to create awareness.
All the sessions were interactive. The programme made the students to be aware of women’s rights, their duties, various legal procedures and legal remedies. The sessions were not only interesting and informative but also helped in knowledge building for the students.
