Co – Curricular & Extension Programmes
We at Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College, take the privilege of furthering and promoting Prime Minister Sri Narendra Damodar Modi's vision to see India as an empowered nation, standing shoulder to shoulder with the top global players.
It is an initiative of the college to promote start-up entrepreneurs at the grass root level, to encourage students, provide awareness and to motivate them to promote and create indigenous products and market them globally. We hope that this will enrich our country with foreign capital in the form of 'Made in India' products, which we would like to see being exported all over the world and that would help reduce our level of Imports. It is with this in mind that we organized an Inter- Collegiate Panel Discussion as part of our Co-Curricular Programs on the topic: "Skilled India - Make in India". This discussion was held on 12th September 2017 at 11.00 am in the Seminar Hall. We invited experts to present their views and answer queries that are put forth by the audience. Our distinguished panelists included:
• Ms. Archana Krishnamurthy, a professional of 27 years who started off with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry. She started her own Management Consulting and Event Management Firm. She has been an advisor to “World Trade Centre’, ABAI (Media and Entertainment Industry Association). She was the Head of Redington Foundation for CSR, and the Training Manager for one of the World’s Largest Media and Entertainment Company “Technicolor".
• Ms. Usha Mohan Iyer, the Founder of Bangalore School and an Educational Consultant for CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE in Bangalore and Hyderabad was invited to participate in the discussion. Being a member of 'Women India on the Move' and having successfully placed teachers in K12 schools, besides being the Director of Pictoris Consultants that recruits for Top International Firms in Africa, the Middle East and Saudi Arabia, she brought her expertise to the discussion.
• Ms. Vasuki, a self taught Jewellery Artist. She manufactures Silver Jewellery and retail them out of boutiques in Chennai. Apart from this she runs a social entrepreneur enterprise where they train house help to teach Art and Craft Techniques at Schools.
• Ms. Vandana Suri, the founder of "Taxshe", and an investment banker, who gave up her glorious career to set up " Taxshe”: Women Cabs and Women Drivers is someone who believes that “Change begins with me”. She started off being the first woman driver of TAXSHE and today has a fleet of 25 women, driving over 350 children safely to school every day in Bangalore.
• Mr. Gaurav Singh, was our final panellist. An M. Tech in Robotics and an MBA from Lancaster University, UK, he started his career as a networking consultant with Infosys Pvt. Ltd. He has over 12 years of experience as an educationist and has worked with various universities and organizations.
Every one of our esteemed panelists encouraged the promotion of our young, skilled, talented entrepreneurs and motivated them to make a difference to the economy and lifestyle of our country. Young entrepreneurs of our college displayed their wares on this invigorating day.
Our institution aims at overall development of students. It offers numerous opportunities for students and encourages them to participate in extension and co-curricular activities. The extension and co-curricular activity committee organized a Panel Discussion on 7th August 2015 at 11.00 A.M in the KCD HRD Centre.
The committee members were Dr. Jacqueline T. R Convener, Mrs. Shilpi Choudhury,Ms. Joyce Metilda, Mr.Hombaiah, Mrs. Leena Raymond, Mrs. M. Manjula and Mrs. Sadia Hameed.
The Panel Discussion was on the topic: “ARE WE FREE?” The following aspects were focused upon: Colonial Mindset, Language Stereotypes, Male Abuse and Cybercrime.
The occasion was graced by the following panellists:

2. Dr. Dominic Dixon, Chairman, More Trust, Provost, Ethos Institute, Editor-in-Charge, HIS ML Radio, VERITAS Television Network

4. Celebrity movie star Ms. Shuba Punja who is an alumni of our college
There was an interactive session after each panellist’s address. Students participated actively and the discussions were lively and enlightening. They were exposed to various current problems in the society like the challenges of having a colonial mindset, male abuse and cybercrime.
